SPORT SESSIONS

READING CUES

Reading cues activity for various sports. Minimise the space to have it relate to NETBALL. Increase the space to have it relate to AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL.

Use different ball types for the same technical outcomes for modified games.

Ensure your scaling equipment to suit the skill ability level of the participants. Size 3 for Year 5 & 6 students in Primary School.

HIT A MOVING BALL

Get away from tees and get the students tracking a moving ball earlier by striking a large tennis ball. Helps with vertical front and back foot development. You will see these in Cricket Australia, USA Cricket, All-Star Cricket & ICC programs. Yes we introduced them to cricket all over the world.

HELPING FOCUS

Draw an emoji, symbol or image on a ball which allows the player to focus on a area
on the ball but may also give a cue to
remind them of something when training
or playing in games.

SMALL-SIDED GAMES

We play small-sided games for Year 3 - 6s in our sport lessons. Here's a study done by Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester United with U9's using four different game versions in both 4v4 and 8v8. On average 4v4 versus 8v8 had: 135% more passes, 260% more scoring attempts, 500% more goals scored, 225% more 1 v 1 encounters and 280% more dribbling skills (tricks).

Imagine comparing it to 15v15?

Handball is a great game for inter-school sport. We introduced it to the Broadmeadows District in 2009 and the schools and students have enjoyed it ever since. This year we introduced it into the Mulgrave District and the feedback has been great too. Handball can be played on basketball or netball courts where the court line D can be used for handball. It can also be played on a grass oval where line marking can take place.
